SEC Filings News Feed — Real-Time EDGAR Tracker
The SEC EDGAR system publishes thousands of filings daily. Most matter only to the filing company; a few move markets violently. Trading News Terminal parses EDGAR sub-second and surfaces the high-impact filings.
Filings we track in real time
- 10-K — annual report. Comprehensive financials, risk factors, management discussion. Market-moving on earnings revisions and going-concern flags.
- 10-Q — quarterly report. Lighter than 10-K but still material; sometimes leaked early via XBRL parsing.
- 8-K — material event report. Within 4 business days of event. M&A, CEO/CFO departure, restructuring, bankruptcy, ratings actions.
- 13F-HR — institutional manager holdings, quarterly. 45 days after quarter-end. Berkshire, Renaissance, Citadel positions revealed.
- Form 4 — insider trades. CEOs/CFOs/directors selling or buying. Within 2 business days.
- S-1, S-3, S-8 — registration statements (IPOs, secondaries, ESOPs).
- 13D / 13G — beneficial owner crossing 5% threshold. Activist signal.
- SC 13D Amendment — activist update letters.
Why this matters for traders
SEC filings are a leading indicator. By the time a 10-K hits Bloomberg, EDGAR has been carrying it for minutes. By the time a Form 4 appears in headlines, sophisticated traders have already digested the implications. We get you to parity with institutional desks.
Example impact:
- August 2024 — Buffett Apple 13F: Berkshire trimmed Apple by 50%. AAPL gapped down $7 next session. 13F was filed 14:00 ET; published on EDGAR within 60 seconds.
- October 2024 — Boeing 8-K (CEO departure): Filed 16:32 ET. BA -4% in after-hours within 90 seconds.
- Multiple 2024 8-Ks for bank stress: Each filing moved relevant bank ticker 2–6% within 5 minutes.
How TNT differs from raw EDGAR
- AI classification: each filing tagged HIGH/MEDIUM/LOW impact based on filing type + company size + content keywords.
- Asset tagging: filings link to ticker + sector ETF (XLF for banks, XLK for tech).
- Insider trade aggregation: Form 4 batched per company per week — separates routine vesting from large open-market sales.
- Activist tracking: 13D filings monitored for known activist managers (Icahn, Elliott, ValueAct, Pershing Square).
- Cross-reference with news: filing alerts annotated with related news context.

FAQ
How fast is the SEC filing alert?
Pro subscribers receive 8-K and Form 4 alerts within ~500 milliseconds of EDGAR publication. Larger filings (10-K, 13F) parse in 2–8 seconds depending on file size.
Do you cover all 10,000+ SEC filers?
Yes. EDGAR carries all SEC registrants. We apply impact filtering so subscribers see HIGH-impact events without inbox overload — but full feed is available with appropriate filters.
How are filings classified?
We use a combination of filing type, company market cap, ticker liquidity, content keywords (e.g. 'going concern', 'material weakness', 'departure') and our AI scoring. Critical bank/large-cap filings get HIGH automatically; routine S-8 amendments get LOW.
Can I filter by ticker?
Yes. Set tickers in your watchlist; only filings for those companies (and the sector ETFs they belong to) will alert you. Filter by filing type (8-K only, Form 4 only) also available.
Is SEC EDGAR free?
EDGAR itself is free. But raw EDGAR is overwhelming and unstructured. TNT's value is the parsing, classification and asset tagging layer on top.
